There are many ways to travel. Some people travel for business, others for hobbies and leisure, but have you considered traveling for alcohol? While Prague isn’t as well known as Italy for its wine or Germany for its beer, it definitely holds its own when it comes to its drinking culture.

Holidays are meant for you to make merry after all, so stay tuned as I share with you the four ways to get intoxicated in Prague.

Beer bicycles

Are you traveling with a big group of friends and would like to get the party started? I have good news for you! You don’t have to wait till night falls to party around town when you can book Beer Bikes.

Environmentally friendly, you can hop on a bike with 13 of your closest friends and family members. With free flow of Czech beer, tour Prague’s most popular sight-seeing spots while stopping at popular bars and haunts. Most importantly, you will have an English-speaking driver to elaborate on sites and steer the bike so that your safety is accounted for.

When the sun sets, your bikes will be lited up with cool LED lights. So are you ready to drink and drive? You can book your bikes here!

Absinthe

Famous drinkers of Absinthe such as Oscar Wilde and Walt Whitman would attest to its hallucinatory power. Also known as “The Green Fairy”, this drink was wildly popular from the 1800s till it was outlawed in the 20th century by most of the world.

The key ingredient in this drink is wormwood used to treat various illnesses. It is particularly bitter and is often paired with Anise as a sweetener in the “Bohemian-style absinthe”. This style serves the drink with a sugar cube that is lited up before being soaked in the drink and extinguished with water.

There are a couple of places in Old Town which serve the drink, as well as a place near Charles Bridge. The shops also serve it with ice cream and have souvenirs for you to take home too. Do heed their warning signs and be sure to have someone sober to take you home!

Here are the places where you can have a Green Fairy!

Best beer to drink

Fun Fact: The Czechs drink the most beer in the world. Yes, that’s right, more than that of the Germans and it is a true testament to the beer they have. The first brewery in Prague was opened in 993AD.

pilsner urquell

Pilsner Urquell is your definite go-to beer, as it has dominated the market for a long time. Kozel is the next most popular, with at least 4% alcohol by volume. For those hoping for a more traditional twist, do consider the Bernard, which is made of Czech hops and Bernard malts. Budweiser also originated in Prague, although it has been commercialized by an American.

Beer Spas

Finland has saunas, Japan has hot springs and Greece has baths. Prague has jumped onto the wellness wagon with its beer spas. Who knew indulging could be so healthy?  Jokes aside, beer spas are said to be good for the skin and body due to their high content of Vitamin B.

But, don’t drink the liquid in your spa as it is only made of beer ingredients yet to be fermented or processed. You will get a tap from which you can drink to your heart’s content instead.

To soak in the experience, you can make your online reservations on their website!

It is fair to say that Prague is every beer lover’s dream. You can have it anywhere from cycling on the road to having a nice warm bath in it. If you tire of it, you can also consider trying out Absinthe, a drink that will take you to other worlds.
