Home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, it’s no wonder Krabi is one of Thailand’s hottest tourist destinations. Those who visit this tropical paradise are spoiled for choice with its endless white sandy beaches and sparkling turquoise waters. To help all you beach-lovers out there decide, we have compiled a list of some of the best beaches you can find right along Krabi’s spectacular coastline.

Easily one of Krabi’s most popular beaches, Phra Nang Beach is where most people choose to spend their day snorkelling in the sparkling emerald waters or just basking on the soft white sands. Phra Nang offers some of the most spectacular postcard-worthy views with its towering limestone cliffs attracting rock climbers of all levels. The best times to visit Phra Nang would be in the early morning or late afternoon as it can get very crowded, especially during peak season.

Getting here: Located on the southernmost tip of Railay, Phra Nang is only accessible by boat. Depending on your location, take a long-tail boat (100 - 150 baht) from Ao Nang, Noparrat Thara, Ao Nam Mao or Krabi Town.

Ton Sai Beach

Known for its laid back vibes, Ton Sai beach is a refreshing getaway from the crowds of tourists you’ll have to jostle with on some of the more popular beaches. Swimming and snorkelling are not advised here due to the reefs and rocks along the coastline, but there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy; sea kayaking and scuba diving are popular among visitors with a few rental stores available. Ton Sai beach is also an extremely well-loved destination among experienced climbers.

Getting here: Surrounded on both sides by  towering limestone cliffs and low lying reefs, it is almost impossible to reach Ton sai by boat. You can either walk over from Railay Beach during low tide or kayak onto the shore.

Ao Nang Beach

As the most popular beach on Krabi mainland, Ao Nang Beach is always abuzz with excitement. Often used as a departure point for island hopping, you will find long-tailed boats coming and going throughout the day. While it may not be the most ideal beach for swimming or suntanning, its promenade is filled with countless shops and restaurants and is a great place to unwind. One of the best places to catch the sunset in Krabi, you will find yourself among many others lounging on the beach if you come here in the evening.

Getting here: The beach is a short walk away from Ao Nang Town (Beach, Ao Nang, Mueang Krabi Krabi, 81180, Thailand)

Tub Kaek Beach

A true hidden gem, Tub Kaek beach is one of the quietest beaches in Krabi. With none of the buzz of a beach town, the absence of boats, water skis and crowds will make you feel as though you are on your very own private beach. Its crystal calm waters and coral sand are perfect for those of you looking for a lazy afternoon to spend working on your tan. (Some of you may also recognise the beach from the wedding scenes in Hangover 2!)

Getting here: The beach is a 30-minute drive away from Ao Nang Town and a 40-minute drive from Krabi Town (Nong Thale, Mueang Krabi, 81000, Thailand)

Nopparat Thara Beach

Located within the Hat Nopparat Thara-Koh Phi Phi National Park, the sandy shoreline lined by casuarina trees offers a serene escape for tourists. The turquoise waters here are perfect for swimming as boats are not allowed on the west end of the beach. During low tide, you can also walk across to Koh Kao Pak Klong Island. A well-loved beach of Thai locals, you can find them picnicking and basking in the sun.

Getting here: A short 15-minute drive from Ao Nang Town will get you here (Ao Nang, Mueang Krabi District, Krabi 81180, Thailand)

Klong Muang Beach

For a taste of the real Thailand experience, Klong Muang Beach offers a glimpse into what Krabi might have looked like before the tourism boom. The beach is somewhat underdeveloped as it only began attracting attention in recent years and still retains some of its charms as a local beach. While the shallow waters are too rocky for swimming, the palm trees along the coastline are perfect for strolling or lounging under. With Hong Island just a short boat drive away, Klong Muang is an ideal place to start exploring the surrounding islands.

Getting here: Klong Muang Beach is a 45-minute drive away from the airport and a 25-minute drive away from Ao Nang
