Snow City has always been a major attraction in Singapore, remembered since the old days for giving younger children the opportunity to experience bundling up in thick clothing and experiencing the winter cold.

With travelling still mostly unavailable and the winter months in full swing in many holiday destinations, now might be a great time to check out the Snow City experience to give you and your kids a taste of what it would be like to explore a winter bound country.

Before You Go...

Visitors should note that gloves, socks and waterproof pants are not provided with the package, and that many of the winter jackets provided don’t include a hood. For those vulnerable to the cold, it might be advisable to bring their own jacket or hoodie to wear underneath, in order to avoid their ears getting numb!

All additional prices are listed below:

  • Glove rental: $2.90 for adults, $2.20 for children
  • Waterproof pants rental: $4.90 for adults, $3.90 for children
  • Socks purchasing: $3.50 for adults, $2.90 for children
  • Locker Rental: $2.00 for one time use

The waterproof pants aren’t necessary, but might be useful if you’re planning on going down the slide repeatedly. While the winter jackets have pockets to hide your hands in, you and your kids will want gloves to interact with the sculptures, play with the snow and avoid the cold in general.

The socks are useful to avoid snow getting into the provided shoes, as the shoes only go up to your ankles. If you are planning on bringing your own socks, make sure to use your thickest, longest ones possible!

Storage will not be provided onsite. If you have any bags and valuable belongings, you’ll need to rent a locker from their automated system. However, it’s acceptable to leave your shoes in the lobby if you’re willing to take the risk.

You should also know that personal cameras and photography are not allowed. However, photographers will be present on site to capture the moments. Visiting groups will be provided with a tag that will recall the photos at the photography desk near the souvenir shop. You’ll need to purchase the photos there, so make sure you get the shots you want and have the money you need.

Prices are listed below

  • $25 for a singular, hard copy only
  • $35 for 2 hard copies, 2 soft copies
  • $88 for the full digital collection

The Snow City Experience

The primary attraction for visiting Snow City is weathering the cold! Snow City’s environment is maintained at a subzero temperature of -5 degrees celsius in order to keep all of its snow intact, so sticking around with your winter clothing is an experience in itself.

The first area you’ll come upon is the Arctic Snow Playground, complete with an inuit’s igloo and a mini slide. This fun and colourful area is built for your kids to interact with and enjoy, with informational exhibits and mascot displays to keep things interesting. There’s even a small snow slide for your little ones (and maybe not so little ones) to go down!

Speaking of snow slides, the last area contains the biggest one! At a whopping 60 metres, this will likely be the highlight of your basic visit. An array of rubber tubes will be provided for you to choose from, and all you have to do is carry one to the top. Once you’re seated, you can experience the thrill of speed in frigid temperatures. There are no extra costs incurred here; you and your family are free to use the snow slide within the allotted time as much as you want.

Other Paid Attractions

These are separate from your standard ticket experience and need to be booked elsewhere. Make sure you check their prices and standards to know if the attraction is right for you!

Snow Shooting

Recently, Snow City has opened up a snow shooting gallery using paintball guns and rubber pellets for patrons ages 14 and up. The experience differs between a Shooting Gallery and a Close Quarter Battle environment, complete with tons of props, tunnels, and barrels to hide behind. If you want to experience what paintball would be like in winter conditions, this attraction is for you!

Drift on Ice

Found on the second level, this attraction will have you zooming around on a floor made of ice! It’s a carnival classic ride with a wintry twist as you ride around on bumper cars in a sub-zero environment. You can either purchase a bundle with your standard experience, or buy ala carte tickets via contactless payments at the ticketing counter

Unfortunately, the Bumper Cars are closed for the month of January, but should reopen soon.

Conclusion

Snow City is fairly small but its unique environment makes for a very memorable experience, especially for those that haven’t experienced snow or temperate seasons before. Snow City is likely the ideal young families’ day out, as children will make the fondest memories with cute mascots, snow play, and the sixty metre slide experience
