Bangkok is a huge sprawling city with a mix of tall skyscrapers and low townhouses, and to get the best view of this, one obviously has to go up. Fortunately, Bangkok has some fantastic rooftop bars where you can have a drink and chat with your friends as you watch the city from a whole new perspective.
Above Eleven
Inspired by New York City’s Central Park, the garden-like oasis of Above Eleven sits high above the city on the 33rd and 34th floor of Fraser Suites. Vertical gardens, a landscaped reception area, grass covered walls, steel trees with acrylic leaves, and wooden chairs and benches all work together to create this incredible park in the sky.
Above Eleven is the first Peruvian-Japanese rooftop bar and restaurant in Southeast Asia, with a menu full of exciting dishes. Aside from the usual Japanese sashimi and sushi rolls, Above Eleven offers a wide selection of Peruvian dishes. Cebiche, Peru’s national dish of marinated fish and seafood, goes from 450 THB to 800 THB; Anticuchos, charcoal grilled skewers, cost just 300 THB to 500 THB depending on what type of meat you’re ordering; if you want to try the best of Peruvian cuisine, try one of the Peruvian Platters, where you can sample the best meat (1,400 THB) or seafood (1,900 THB). You can complete your meal with some Peruvian desserts, like Alfajor, Peruvian shortbread cookie filled with homemade Dulce de Lech (250 THB), or Merengado De Fresa, mango and strawberry pavlova with yoghurt ice cream and mango sauce (250 THB).
Above Eleven has a huge menu of Peruvian-Japanese cocktails too. Try the Peru inspired Lima Spritz Pisco, a cocktail of prosecco, lime and strawberry shrub (380 THB), the Central Park inspired Big Smokey Apple, made from Bacardi white, pomme verte, honey, apple and lime juice (360 THB), or the Japanese-Peruvian concoction of Sake Spritz, a mix of Grey Goose, sake, Prosecco, pineapple juice, passion fruit purèe, lychee and angostura bitter (360 THB). With a menu that includes so many cocktails, as well as an extensive selection of spirits, you’ll be spending a good amount of time just trying to decide what to order!
Not forgetting, there are also live DJ performances almost every night of the week, with chill live jazz on Tuesday. With hip-hop, house, and salsa, you’ll definitely want to get up and dance.

Escape Bangkok
Another themed bar, Escape Bangkok allows you to escape the concrete jungle and into the tropics, with 4 differently decorated sections that will make you feel as if you’ve stepped into a beach club rather than a rooftop bar.
At the heart of Escape Bangkok is the Ellipse Bar, where you can grab one of their specialty cocktails or dance the night away to the beats from the nearby DJ booth. If you want a chill night with your friends instead, head to the Sail, where you relax on one of the wooden benches with a bottle of craft beer from the beer bar. For a more intimate experience, you can grab a table at the Terrace, which has Balinese style cabanas and benches where you can enjoy the view. The heat getting to you? No worries, because there’s an indoor section, the Tent, where you can enjoy a good meal and air-conditioning.
As this bar is quite popular, we recommend going to their website and reserving a seat in the section you prefer!
The dining menu has a great selection of international dishes like Pulled Pork Tacos (350 THB) and Mediterrean Mussel Pot (390 THB), local favourites like Lemongrass Prawns (350 THB) and Phad Thai (420 THB), as well as some Thai fusion dishes like Wagyu Beef Krapraw (390 THB) and Chicken Satay Sliders (390 THB).
Cocktails are their speciality, so why not try some of their house specials? They include the citrusy Ha Long Dream (380 THB), the pomegranate filled Mingle on Himalayas (360 THB), and the intense sounding Sailor on Wrath (360 THB). Classics like Mai Tais, Margaritas, and Caipirinhas will also have you transported to the tropics in no time. If cocktails aren’t your things, there are plenty of beers, wines, and spirits on the menu for you to enjoy.

Red Sky Bar
At the very top of Central World shopping mall, one the 56th floor, is the Red Sky Bar, a completely uncovered rooftop bar. The 360° panoramic views of Bangkok from this bar are unparalleled, a sight that only becomes better when the sun starts to set and the city is washed with the colourful hues of the setting sun.
A world-class restaurant, the food is on the pricier side but is of the highest quality. On the dining menu you’ll find expensive ingredients like foie gras, Wagyu beef and oysters. If you and your travel mates really want to try the best of the best, or if you can’t make your mind up on which of the delicious dishes to order, then splurge on and share either the Seafood On Ice, a platter of the freshest Atlantic seafood including caviar, King crab, and Main lobster (5,955 THB), or the Red Sky Surf & Turf Tower, which contains, among other high-quality items: King crab, Hokkaido scallops, Wagyu rib-eye, and a giant Maine Lobster, which costs a whopping 6,955 THB.
On the drinks menu is a great selection of cocktails, wines, and spirits, but like the food, they can be quite expensive. We recommend going during Happy Hour, from 4pm to 5pm, where cocktails are 2 for the price of 1!

Wallflowers Upstairs
Now for a rooftop bar that doesn't have much of a view, instead offering a fantastic atmosphere. Wallflowers Upstairs is a rooftop bar that combines the rustic with the natural, with a collection of mismatched furniture that blend together beautifully with the several potted plants and small trees. Though not on the rooftop of a tall skyscraper, this charming bar does sit on top of the Wallflowers Cafe, which you can read more about at Cafe Hopping: Bangkok’s Unique and Instagrammable Cafes.
As the cafe also doubles as a flower shop, all of the items on the menu includes some sort of edible flowers, from the snacks to the cakes and the cocktails. So look forward to some of the prettiest looking food and drink in all of Bangkok!
Nestled in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown, this rooftop bar doesn’t have amazing views of the city skyline, nor does it have a wild club-like atmosphere that stays open way past midnight. However, it does offer a cosy atmosphere for you and your friends or significant other to have an intimate night out, and a lovely space for you to take photos for your Instagram.
