Not only is Melbourne known for good food but, it is also known for having some of the best coffee. If you are a coffee lover or need a really good cup to start your day, here are 5 of our recommendations on some of the best coffee joints in Melbourne.
Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters
An old warehouse converted into a roaster and cafe, this cafe serves one of the best coffees in Melbourne. The owners, Mark Dundon and Bridget Amor wanted nothing but quality, provenance and a light roast, and a wide variety of brewing styles.
The roaster imports beans from the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Be sure to try one of the specials, a brewed cup of the Golden Gate espresso blend with bits of cocoa and toffee.
Plug Nickel
This one-of-a-kind coffee joint uses the relatively obscure Sanremo Opera and an espresso machine Sestic to brew their coffee. Plug Nickel serves batch brew and cold brew on top of the espresso.
They even have beverages on tap such as the Cascara, a tea made from coffee cherries. Plug Nickel is more of a pit-stop for a pick-up coffee, and you can also get some scrumptious food such as breakfast roti or pies.
Market Lane Coffee (Queen Prahan Market)
This exquisite coffee hut is located alongside the entrance of Prahan Market, at the corner of Elizabeth Street and Market Lane. The beans at Market Lane Coffee Queen are roasted on-site and it has a huge collection of single estate beans and equipment to brew with.
If you happen to be around the area on Friday or Saturday anytime from 10 am to 11 am, be sure to drop by this coffee joint to enjoy some free coffee tasting!
Maker's Coffee
Maker’s Coffee ticks off all the boxes for a unique and specially curated coffee. They do not believe in blends but rather, they believe that single-origin brews can be well-rounded and flavoursome as well.
You can choose from 5 single-origin batch brews or if you want something exciting, you can try their carbonated coffee on tap. Apart from coffee, they also serve hot chocolate, Prana Chai, and orange juice.
Everyday Coffee Midtown
Set up as a takeaway coffee joint, Everyday Coffee Midtown has an interesting range of single-origin coffees from countries like Honduras, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Located right in the city, it is perfect for a coffee break on a busy day or as a little pick-me-up.
The coffee joint roasts their own beans in the warehouse daily and are well known for the Colombian blends for milky cups.
