Cool off from Florida’s heat at Disney’s ski resort themed water park, Blizzard Beach in Orlando. With an expansive area about the size of Disneyland California, the family friendly water park offers many attractions for kids, novice swimmers and thrill seekers. There are rapid rafts for groups and even one of the world’s steepest water slides here. Read on to find out the best rides and food at Blizzard Beach! (Cover Image by Ashley)

Top Attractions of Blizzard Beach

Slush Gusher

Ride the scenic and effortless route to the summit of Mount Gushmore via a chairlift, then prepare your heart for the big guy: a 90-foot long water slide to the bottom.

Summit Plummet

Advance to the next level as you plunge down the 12 storey tall Summit Plummet, one of the steepest water slides on Earth.

Teamboat Springs

Groups of thrill seekers can get their fix of adrenaline rush together with a white water rafting session at Teamboat Springs.

Tike’s Peak

Hit up Tike’s Peak where toddlers under 3 years can splash in a handful of water attractions that are only inches deep and glide down waterslides suitable for their height. You won’t have to worry about safety either, as all pools and activities are under the close supervision of the many lifeguards positioned around.

Ski Patrol Training Camp

Older kids and even adults who are novice swimmers can have fun at the Ski Patrol Training Camp, which features a range of easy slides and low obstacle water courses.

Toboggan Racers

Compete with your friends and family at Toboggan Racers. Guests of any height can participate, so grab your race mat and zip down Mount Gushmore!

Downhill Double Dipper

Unlike Toboggan Racers, Double Dipper requires guests to be 122cm or taller as it involves a steeper 50 feet slide. Slide down with a friend and may the best racer win!

Cross Country Creek

Float around Cross Country Creek, a lazy river that circles and pushes you around the perimeter of the park, flourished with geysers and waterfalls that create a more natural experience.

Must-Eats at Blizzard Beach

Blizzard Beach offers mainly light grubs in the snack carts scattered across the park, while there are two quick service restaurants that let guests have a seat down meal: Warming Hut and Lottawatta Lodge, which offers vegetarian options as well.

Regular patrons of the Lottawatta Lodge highly recommend the Blizzard Burger and Key Lime Pie blanketed in chocolate. To wash it all down, order a chilly cup of Frozen Blue Raspberry Lemonade

Head to the Warming Hut for a serving of freshly fried Loaded Potato Barrels, composed of golden tater tots covered in cheese sauce and topped with chilli, chopped tomatoes, bacon bits and sour cream.

For something with more of a kick, make your way to the Polar Pub. Apart from draft beers, wines and cocktails, the beach pub takes pride in making their margaritas. Try their house specialty, the Blue Blizzard Margarita!

Disney World’s Blizzard Beach offers a balance between activities for both kids and adults. Compared to its sister water park - Typhoon Lagoon - we think Blizzard Beach is much more suitable for families with young ones considering there are two huge sections dedicated to kids.

Getting to Blizzard Beach

Guests can take the Disney shuttle buses, which are provided for guests staying  in the resort and partner hotels outside the resort. Guests may choose to drive, for which they can enjoy complimentary standard parking at both water parks in Disney World. Alternatively, you can consider private hires like Uber or Lyft.

Tips

1. Arrive Early

Come right when the park opens and head for the popular rides like Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher on top of Mount Gushmore first. Not only will you avoid long waiting times, but because FastPass+ is not issued at Blizzard Beach, you can also avoid queuing under the hot afternoon sun.

2. Wear the Magic Bands

Reduce your load and opt to use the waterproof Magic Bands that will store all your meal credits, cards, and tickets in one small device. Enter the park and pay for rentals and grubs with just the band!

3. Bring a Waterproof Pouch

Pictures are a must in this amazing waterpark, so remember to bring a waterproof and transparent phone or camera pouch to capture the memories.

4. Stay at a Disney Resort hotel

Consider staying at the Disney Resort as hotel guests are entitled to ‘Extra Magic Hours’. Enjoy smaller crowds and shorter waiting times at rides during these special extended hours.
