World Environment Day — this special occasion serves the purpose of raising environmental awareness among the public through educating them about the importance of conserving the natural environment and the impacts of global warming. It is often celebrated individually or in smaller groups to prevent less harm directed on the environment.

However, with so many guidelines imposed due to the pandemic, one of the best ways to celebrate an occasion is to visit a park or any nature grounds, and take the time to appreciate everything mother nature has provided for us. Since the first week of June is used to commemorate World Environment Day, why not take the time to visit a park, such as Bukit Batok Neighbourhood Park this weekend!

Bukit Batok Neighbourhood Park has finally opened its door to the public after months of construction. Formerly an average old school playground area, its recent transformation pulls visitors from all regions of Singapore to give the park a quick look.

Located on a hill, this playground keeps children far from the streets and roads whilst offering a stunning view for all. It is almost impossible to miss the towering playground with slides snaking down to another level. The playground also has a mini obstacle course for young adventurers to tackle. Children are also often seen at the top of the playground, taking in the breathtaking birds eye view of Bukit Batok.

Along with this new site, the park also offers various playgrounds for kids of different ages. These other playgrounds also provide younger children with plenty of room to roam and run around. Additionally, there are more convenient and tech-savvy playsets such as a motorized merry-go-round that can keep children entertained for hours.

The highlight of this entire park is their treetop walk — with wooden bridges over the hills to provide us with an easy route while being surrounded by lush greeneries. Though escalating the hill itself can be a chore, the view that it offers will definitely diminish any form of weariness instantly.
