Located in the west of Singapore, Bukit Panjang is a lesser-known neighbourhood, but contains plenty of hidden gems. Before its redevelopment into a housing estate, Bukit Panjang was a village in the area, hence the different zones of Bukit Panjang being named after old village tracks. Pang Sua Pond
Built as a stormwater collection pond in the 1990s, Pang Sua Pond has since been transformed into a stunning wetland park. With a boardwalk running through the perimeter of the pond, you’ll be able to get up close and personal with nature! The pond has a diverse collection of aquatic life and is perfect for a sunset stroll. This pond is also connected to Bukit Panjang Neighborhood Park 5, which is equally breathtaking with its bamboo trees and natural features.

Zhenghua Nature Park
Don’t miss Zhenghua Nature Park, a part of the Park Connector Network which bridges Bukit Panjang and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. It’s a nature lover’s haven with more than 37 species of birds, as well as rare animal sightings. You can also follow a hiking trail to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. For families with children, the park also has a unique sand playground that’ll occupy the little ones!

Bukit Panjang Public Library
One of Singapore’s few libraries to have separate areas for adults and kids, this futuristic themed library is a must-visit. Their children’s zone is specially decorated with the little ones in mind, complete with play areas and easy to reach shelves. The library even runs play programmes for children on weekends! The adult zone is specially curated by library volunteers and has a vast collection of books.

Bangkit Market
Unique to Bukit Panjang is Bangkit Market, a vibrant indoor market where independent local stallholders are given the opportunity to sell their wares. You never know what you’re going to find here! From clothes to paintings, there’s something new every day. Recently revamped to accommodate the surge of patrons to the market, you’ll be able to browse the stalls, rain or shine.

Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre and Market
If you’re in the area, you can’t miss Bukit Panjang Centre and Market. A multi-level hawker centre and wet market, it boasts plenty of famous hawker stalls on the lower level. Try Father And Son Carrot Cake’s carrot cakes, which are served with a generous helping of cai poh and minced garlic. If you’re looking for something simple, Chye Lee Ah Mah Mee Sua brings back a taste of the past with a traditional Hokkien recipe. Their specialty is, of course, Mee Sua.

Bukit Panjang Ke Kou Mian
A famous noodle stall in Bukit Panjang that serves up steaming bowls of ke kou mian and porridge. Known for its authentic fare and affordable prices, the stall sees plenty of customers each day. What’s more, the stall opens at 3 am, so if you’re looking for a late-night snack, it’s one of the few places open this late. Be sure to come early to avoid disappointment as the menu items do sell out fast!
