Trendy and hip cafes have been growing in popularity in Bangkok, with more and more cafes popping up all across the city. It is no surprise then that with so many cafes, each one has to stand out, to offer something unique in order to attract customers. As a result, Bangkok has some of the most unique cafes you’ll ever find. These cafes are a must visit, not just for the experience, but for the number of picture perfect moments for your instagram too.
All the cafes in the Thai capital can be sorted into 3 main categories: Fairytale & Fantasy, Plants & Nature, and Aesthetic. We’ll recommend a few from each category, but there are a lot more than just these. If you want to find out what other interesting and instagrammable cafes there are in Bangkok, check out the Native Insider Guide!
Fairytale & Fantasy
These cafes are the ones where once you step inside, you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported into another realm, with decor and furniture that seem like they’ve been plucked straight out of a fairytale book. The food and drinks in these cafes are just as fantastical, with colourful ingredients and equally creative names.
Sretsis Parlour
Step through the pink doors of this cafe and you’ll be greeted by a stunning sight: floral wallpaper, floral floors, floral furniture, two spiral staircases, and a curved ceiling painted to look like the sky. This is Sretsis Parlour (which is ‘sisters’ spelt backwards), a tea room that is a visually stunning fantasy world where every corner makes for a perfect Instagram opportunity. The food served here is just as charming, with beautifully decorated cakes, drinks, and other sweet treats, all served in and on pretty plates and cups. With lions and unicorns as common motifs, you’ll definitely feel a hint of regality as you have some tea in this whimsical parlour.
Address: Central Embassy, Level 2 Lumphini, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok 10330
Opening Hours:
Monday - Sunday: 10am - 8pm
Mocking Tales
On the darker end of the fantasy spectrum, there is Mocking Tales, a cafe that looks like it belongs in the land of witches and knights. Look around this cafe and you’ll find dragons, goblins, and skeletons lurking around, with a gothic interior that brings you right into the enchanting fantasy. Even the food here appears to come from another land. Outside of this though, there is often live music playing in this cafe, making a great place to chill with your friends while getting some cool pics for the ‘gram.
Address: Soi Sukhumvit 55, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
Opening Hours: Monday - Sunday: 11am - 1pm
Plants & Nature
In these cafes, you’ll feel at one with nature, with tons of gorgeous flowers and plants surrounding you. Often, such cafes also have huge windows to let the natural light in, creating a vibrant and refreshing space where you can escape from the concrete jungle into a secret garden.
Floral Cafe
Perfectly located in Bangkok’s flower market, Floral Cafe is hidden behind an actual flower store. This beautiful cafe is decorated from wall to ceiling with all types of plants and blooms, decorations which change according to which plants are currently in season, making this cafe one worth revisiting each time you’re in Bangkok. Aptly, flower-flavoured ice creams and teas are served here, creating a truly flower-filled experience.
Address: 67 Chakkraphet Rd, Khwaeng Wang Burapha Phirom, Khet Phra Nakhon, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10200
Opening Hours:
Monday - Sunday: 10am - 8pm
Patom Organic Living
Patom Organic Living is a small but stunning cafe with unique and minimalistic architecture. Essentially a box with glass walls and a frame made from reclaimed wood, the structure stands nestled in the middle of a garden, so wherever you are seated, you’ll be illuminated by natural sunlight while having a great view of lush greenery. This cafe sells traditional Thai delicacies, and as the name suggests, they are made using organic ingredients. They even sell organic beauty products that you can purchase and bring home! A visit here will definitely be rejuvenating for both the mind and the body.
Address: 9, 2 Phrom Phak Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
Opening Hours:
Tuesday - Sunday: 9:30am - 6pm
Wallflowers Cafe
Unlike the other two cafes, Wallflowers Cafe looks more like the perfect backyard, with seating that consists of random and mis-matching chairs and tables that somehow work together to create a rustic yet comfy atmosphere. The interior is filled with hanging and potted plants, while flowers and small trees blend seamlessly into the outdoor seating area. Flowers are also incorporated into every item on the menu, from the savoury to the sweet, from the cakes to the cocktails.
Address: 31-33 ซอย นานา Pom Prap, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok 10100
Opening Hours:
Monday - Sunday: 11am - 12am
Aesthetic
Many cafes in Bangkok fall under this category, ones with a particular aesthetic or theme, such as minimalist, vintage, or just plain cute. The interiors (and sometimes exteriors) of these cafes are perfect backdrops and settings for your photos, with equally “aesthetic” food to match.
Tales Khaosan
In the heart of the lively Khao San Road, you will find Tales Khaosan, a cafe and hostel modelled after a train. You don’t have to be a guest at the hostel to enjoy some of their tasty treats and refreshing drinks. Just grab a seat at one of the different seating areas, with barstools, sofas, and beanbags as some of your options. Order some toast and a cup of their popular coffee, and you’ll be having a great time with your friends soon enough.
Address: 88 Chakrabongse Rd, Talat Yot, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200
Opening Hours:
Tuesday - Sunday: 10am - 4:30pm
Featherstone
Featherstone may be a cafe that just looks like an apothecary, but look closer and you’ll see the various magical elements all around. With a charming vintage aesthetic, Featherstone is a truly unique space to eat as well as to shop, as the cafe does sell some items as well, such as crystals and jewelry. Though a little on the pricey side, the menu offers a great variety of dishes, with some drinks in particular being quite quirky too.
Address: 60 Ekkamai 12 Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
Opening Hours:
Monday - Sunday: 10:30am - 10pm
La Mesa Coffee Co.
One of the more minimalist cafes you’ll find in Bangkok, La Mesa is a coffee shop that sells a variety of food, but their main star is unsurprisingly their coffee, a special mix of local Thai and Brazilian beans, creating a fragrant and rich cup of joe. What makes this cafe so unique and instagrammable is its pink feature wall, which has been fitted with several small alcoves where you can sit and take pictures at. So if you’re looking for a good cup of coffee, why not pay a visit to this cafe, where you can take a nice photo for your feed while you’re there.
Addresses: 7 2 Sophon Alley, Bang Na, Bangkok 10260
