There’s nothing quite like standing under a magnificent waterfall on a hot sunny day. The force of nature due to water rushing down in massive volumes is both a marvel and fascination for many. Bali, known for its natural blessings, is the perfect place for you to chase waterfalls with relative safety. These seven waterfalls below will leave you in wonder and coming back for more!
Gitgit Waterfall
Chasing waterfalls doesn’t have to be difficult! The Gitgit waterfall is one of the easiest to reach, located along the main road of Singaraja and a mere 40 minutes drive from Lovina Beach.
Opened in 1975, you can take a swim under the 35 meters cascade of water from 7 am and yes, be there early as the crowds will start streaming in! There is a tiny shrine at the base of the waterfall and if you are superstitious, do note that couples who bathe together under the shower tend to break up after a while.
Address: Jl. Raya Bedugul - Singaraja, Gitgit, Kec. Sukasada, Kabupaten Buleleng, Bali 81161, Indonesia
Do note there is a small entrance fee (up to 20, 000 IDR) for waterfall and trail maintenance.
Nungnung Waterfall

For those who enjoy a challenge and am willing to conquer 509 steps to get to your destination, the Nungnung Waterfall will be to your fancy. Enjoy lush greenery on the way as you go through plantations and rice fields.
There will be plenty of wooden gazebos for you to take a break at while descending the stairs and after crossing a small bridge, you will encounter the 50 meters tall waterfall.
Address: Plage Petang Badung, Nungnung 80353 Indonesia
Tegenungan Waterfall
Located close to Ubud village, this waterfall has a separate natural spring bath area for you to wash off after playing in the waterfall. While some tourists take the opportunity to cliff jump, it is not recommended as the water is quite shallow.
Insider Tip: The best time to take photographs is in the evening as the lighting is the best. There is also a waterfall swing, a few high viewpoints, and a log at the bottom that you can balance on for the gram!
Address: Jl. Ir. Sutami, Kemenuh, Kec. Sukawati, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80581, Indonesia
Opening Hours: 630am to 630pm daily
Aling Aling

If you were disappointed by not being able to cliff jump earlier, these waterfalls will be a delight. While Aling Aling waterfall is at a height of 30 meters with a strong current, this waterfall is just for viewing. However, you can slide down rocks and cliff jump at the smaller waterfalls in its surroundings such as Kroya, Kembar, and Pucuk.
At the entrance, you can choose to either pay for just viewing or have a guide to ensure your safety for swimming.
Address: Jl. Raya Desa Sambangan, Sambangan, Kec. Sukasada, Kabupaten Buleleng, Bali 81161, Indonesia
Tukad Cepung Waterfall
This waterfall is my favorite in this list as it has an absolutely otherworldly feel with gushing waterfalls inside a cave. The lighting is perfect as light streams in from the top of the fall, creating spotlight effects from several angles. Even the entrance of the cave is instagram-worthy, with its uniquely curved silhouettes that remind me of the Antelope Canyon in the U.S.A.
Due to the angle of the light streaming in against the falls, be prepared to be amazed by rainbows in the afternoon as well. Do note that it can be dangerous to visit after heavy rains and it closes early at 5 pm daily.
Address: Jl. Tembuku, Dusun Penida Kelod, Tembuku, Kabupaten Bangli, Bali 80671, Indonesia
Kanto Lampo Waterfall
A multiple-tiered waterfall, you can’t swim at the bottom but you will definitely be able to get cool pictures. Unlike some of the earlier waterfalls, this is best visited in the dry season as high currents might make it inaccessible. This waterfall is super easy to reach, requiring a very short walk from the main road, in the village of Beng Gianya.
Address: Beng, Gianyar, Bali 80581, Indonesia
Banyumala Twin Waterfalls, Buleleng
What’s better than one streaming waterfall? Two! This waterfall is actually pretty near the famous Gitgit waterfall as mentioned earlier, but perhaps more impressive. It is a little harder to get to as you will have to trek down some sketchy bamboo stairs, but because of that, there are fewer travelers and you can catch a few moments of peaceful nature to yourself.
Address: Wanagiri, Sukasada, Buleleng Regency, Bali 81161, Indonesia
While chasing waterfalls usually refers to chasing intangible ideals, there is certainly nothing wrong with losing some time and yourself in pristine nature to regain a sense of self and peace. You won’t regret this hunt and will probably remember it for years to come!
