First celebrated on April 22, 1970, Earth Day is one of the biggest movements celebrated around the world, and Singapore is no exception. It was founded all those years ago to shine a light on environmental awareness and global warming that is a prevalent issue in the world today.
We need to make a better world for our children, and that begins by taking the first step and celebrating Earth Day, showing them how important it is to save the earth. This year, let your children unleash their inner Greta Thunberg after following in your footsteps.
There are quite a few events around, so why not let it be a memorable day of fun, where you also get to save the Earth?

Are We in Debt to the Planet?
For centuries, Mother Earth has given us resources to sustain ourselves, but there is a possibility that we are using up Earth’s resources faster than they can be replenished. The speaker of this workshop, Dr. Chua Siew Chin, is a lecturer at the National University of Singapore, where she teaches environmental sustainability. At the workshop, you will learn if climate change, deforestation, and the loss of biodiversity are the symptoms of a ravaged earth. More information and free tickets can be found here.
Climate Change Under the Sea
In this talk, you will learn what the key impacts of climate change are on marine ecosystems and why they matter so much. The effects of climate change can be seen around the world, with rising temperatures and extreme weather events. However, did you know that these impacts are felt by the marine life as well – from the tropics to the poles? This is another event hosted by Dr. Chua Siew Chin, who teaches environmental sustainability at the National University of Singapore. Click here to find out more and register.
At Earth’s Expense
Every day, we make use of various products and services, not knowing how they affect the planet. This talk encourages you that it pays to care about our consumption habits and how they affect the environment. Overconsumption can also deplete the earth’s reserve of natural resources, and impact the environment in a negative way. The talk will be given by Cheng Puay, a biologist and firm believer in experiential education. Book your free tickets here!
