Earth Day may have passed but that still does not mean we shouldn’t do our best to practice earth-friendly habits for the betterment of our home. This year’s theme is, Restore Our Earth which implies focusing on natural processes and encouraging innovative thinking. Though changing our entire lifestyle surrounding ecological beliefs may be challenging, perhaps the first few baby steps could be to support sustainable-friendly brands!

Grocery Shopping: Scoop Wholefoods

Scoop Wholefoods is one of the best and my personal favourite grocery shops to visit. It was founded in 2013 by an Australian couple whose mission was to improve people’s health and well-being and to safeguard the planet we inhabit for future generations. This grocery store has extensively created a range of products that would improve their customer's livelihoods and the environment. From food items, laundry detergent, and home appliances, this place has it all. And the best part, it is kept at incredibly affordable prices. Scoop Wholefood is slowly expanding in Singapore and I can’t wait for the day when this franchise becomes the new norm.

Fashion: Bare

Bare is a local brand that was established by two ladies that aims to create fashionable, comfortable, and more importantly quality clothes that do not cause harm to the environment. If you’re like me and have a hard time with thrifting because of the time and effort it takes only to discover that none of them fits you properly, Bare definitely has me covered. The brand has managed to produce simple and timeless pieces that definitely could be mix-and-match with the other clothes you have at hand. As Bare says, “Saving the Earth has never looked this good,” so live sustainable in style!

Skincare: Trove of Gaia

This store is all about skincare and self-love. When we indulge in face masks and other facial products, we are subconsciously harming the environment. Facial sheets are a single-use product and scrubs contain tiny particles that are harmful to the sea. Trove of Gaia ensures that each of their products is never wasted and they will ensure that their customers won’t put it to waste too. Their beauty products are definitely to die for, they have a range of skincare products that caters to different needs as well. Definitely a trove of wonders.

Furniture: Soul and Tables

Just like clothes, furniture wears and tears too. After a while, it gets harder to find sturdy and long-standing furniture and most shoppers would resort to cheap brands due to the convenience of it. However, Soul and Tables have managed to solve that problem on top of creating eco-friendly furniture! This brand starts with ethical sourcing of materials before producing it in the most environmentally conscious way before providing their customers with authentic and contemporary furniture pieces. They also believe in value-added services, provide customers with free delivery and complimentary lifetime maintenance, and talk about value for money!

Shoes: Good News

Literally, good news. These 70s-inspired sneakers were made from organic and recycled materials. The shoes contain recycled rubber soles, organic cotton, and weave uppers, and recycled eco-lite footbeds to break it down. Be prepared to pay at least around $200 for a pair of sustainable sneakers but I personally think this isn’t steep compared to the average cost you’d have to spend on regular sneakers and boots. Good News also carries slip-on and high-cut sneakers which only makes their customers spoilt for choices. Another good news is that the brand has been collaborating with H&M since the 1st of April!
