The Riau Islands are known for having picturesque beaches and Batam has no shortage of that. In Batam, you’ll find a range of tranquil beaches and others that take water sports to the next level. Here are some beaches that you may want to visit on your trip to Batam.

Vio Vio Beach

Vio Vio is Batam’s most Insta-worthy beach. Swings built on shorelines, plank walks over the water, plain wooden gazebos, the list goes on. If a lazy day at the beach doesn’t sound like you, there are banana boats and canoes available for something more exciting. Otherwise, we recommend taking a few portrait shots and watching the sunset in the gazebos.

Vio Vio can be quite inaccessible from the city, but it’s worth a stop if you’re visiting the Vietnamese Galang Refugee Camp. On the bright side, that means that you won’t be swarmed by the tourist crowd!

Nongsa Beach

Nongsa Beach is known for its soft white sand and clear blue waters. It also happens to be nearby popular resorts like Palm Springs and Batam View. Upon visiting Nongsa, you’ll get a sense of the rural life in Batam. A couple of boats and old stilt houses decorate the shores, giving the beach an authentic vibe.

You may also want to try some of the water sports while you’re here. Try jet skiing for an adrenaline-filled experience!

Water sports is the main attraction at Turi Beach. It is one of the only beaches in Batam to offer flyboarding and parasailing. And for our adrenaline junkies out there, we dare you to do both in one day.

While it’s a private beach owned by Turi Beach Resort, you’ll still be able to access it for a fee.

Melayu Beach is another beach that’s further away from the commercial districts. The crowd is mostly made up of local families out for a picnic by the beach. You won’t find the same level of serenity in other popular beaches like Nongsa and Turi like you do here.

Ever sat in a ferris wheel by the beach? Experience that and other amusement rides at Ocarina Beach. It’s a good place to visit if you’ve got thrill-seeking kids who enjoy rides like merry-go-rounds and swing rides. It’s also open at night so if you love night walks at the beach, this is the place for you.

Nearest ferry terminal: Batam Centre Ferry Terminal (14 minutes by car)

If delectable local food at the beach sounds like your thing, you’ll enjoy Marina Beach. There is a food court in the area that sells snacks and full meals so you don’t have to worry about not packing anything! It’s also nearby Harris Resort and Holiday Inn so it’s worth a stop if you happen to be staying in these resorts.
