There are many fun and engaging activities for kids and adults to enjoy simultaneously in Perth ranging from attractions to free activities. Here are some of the best kid-friendly activities around Perth. 

Caversham Wildlife Park

Located in Whiteman Park, the Caversham Wildlife Park is home to some of Australia’s animal icons such as Kangaroos, Koalas and Wombats. Get the opportunity to be up close and personal with some Kangaroos as they roam about freely in the enclosure. Kids or adults can also feed the kangaroos as they are known to be very friendly animals. Likewise, at select timings, there are also opportunities to get up close to a wombat and Koala for a photo-op and tick off the must-see-must-touch checklist of Australia’s most famous critters.

Molly’s farm is an interactive, smaller farm suitable for children of all ages with barn animals or even llamas. Additionally, be sure to catch the Farm Show as your kids will gain an experience of what it feels like to be on an Australian farm, anything from sheep shearing to milking a cow. It is the perfect unique experience for your family and everything is included in the standard ticket price as well!

Calamunnda Camel Farm

Visiting the Calamunnda Camel Farm just a half an hour drive away from the city provides your kids with the true experience of a rustic and rural farm. You can even ride a camel while exploring through the farmland. Depending on your availability for the day, you can either choose from either the 15 minutes trail, 30 minutes or even an hour ride on the friendly camels.

Feel free to feed the other animals in the farm such as emu, sheep or chickens before or after your camel ride. Or, you can either choose to go on one of the walking trails or mountain biking trails.  If your kids are fans of Camel milk, they are also available for purchase at the farm.

Mandurah Dolphin Cruise

A trip to Mandurah is never completed without a cruise discovering the canals of Mandurah. You might even get the opportunity to see dolphins as up close and personal as they swim alongside the cruise you are on. On top of learning more about the marine environment, keep a lookout for the various birds you can spot ranging from pelicans to swans and even ospreys. 

Kings Park

If you would like to have a more relaxed day, enjoying a picnic while soaking up some sun, Kings Park would be the perfect location for you. It is a stunning 400.6-hectare park with an abundance of things to do at the park. Your kids can learn more about Australia’s flora and Indigenous culture.

There are also many playgrounds around the park for kids to explore and learn. From transporting to a world filled with dinosaurs to a nature adventure playground, keeping them occupied all the time.

As Western Australia’s leading science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) museum, it is perfect for kids of all ages. Offering various interactive science exhibitions with a more immersive experience. Encouraging kids to touch, see and feel anything they come into contact with. 

While there, you can also watch a show with your kids at the Planetarium. Being the largest Planetarium in Australia, your children can immerse themselves in the dome-like structure as they learn more about the world we live in. 

The exhibitions in Sci-tech change regularly so be sure to check their website for updated information on the various exhibitions.

Western Australia Maritime Museum

Situated on the harbour of Freemantle, Western Australia (WA) Maritime Museum tells the story of the WA’s nautical history. It also paints the picture of the vibrancy of Australia’s culturally diverse society, making it a must-see location to learn more about the richness of the port of Australia. 

After exploring the 6 different themed galleries located in the museum, your kids can also explore the HMAS Ovens, an iconic vessel of the Royal Australian Navy. Join a guided tour of the submarine and experience the dangers of being underwater during the cold war.

Margaret River Chocolate Factory

There is nothing more exciting for kids than learning about how chocolate is being made. While viewing how chocolate is being made, you can also enjoy a free chocolate tasting. Help yourself to either the white, dark or milk chocolate buttons placed near the front of the factory.

Right outside of the factory there is also a huge outdoor area for kids to run around and burn all that extra energy or chocolate while parents can sip on a coffee or munch on a snack from the cafe.
