New Year Eve's countdown might be slightly different from past years but that doesn't mean it's less the fun!
Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2021 has three main highlights you can check out. There will be the Shine a Light Displays, Share The Moment projection shows inspired by ‘City of Good’ and lastly, fireworks in the heartlands on 31 December! Alternatively, you can tune into the livestream of Mediacorp's virtual countdown party.
If you like to drink, Loof Bar and Ce La Vi bar have got new year countdown parties organised too.

Shine a Light Displays
Happening from 1 December to 30 December, there will be a light beams display at The Promontory! 60 light beams will be arranged in a circle to represent the notches of a clock, and used for countdown to the New Year.
The light rays which will be splendidly projected into the sky, aim to signify unity, positivity and resilience. With these values being portrayed, it serves to represent how Singaporeans overcame the pandemic together. Our determination and tenacity got us through the difficult times and emerged stronger as a nation.
Besides The Promontory itself, there are many other viewing points you can check out to get an amazing sight of the show! Here are some of them:
- The Waterfront outside Esplanade
- Marina Bay Sands
- Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade
- Hotel rooms overlooking Marina Bay (The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, Mandarin Oriental, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay)
- One Fullerton
- The Clifford Pier

8.00pm - 10.30PM daily (extended to 11.45PM on 31 December)
Show’s duration is approximately 3 minutes and will repeat every 15 minutes interval.
Share The Moment
Inspired by stories from the City of Good, this event will feature artworks created by students from local schools. The art pieces depicting commendable community stories, were meticulously co-created during masterclasses which the youths voluntarily signed up for.
The art pieces are then adapted for projection mapping shows which will light up the Marina Bay precinct. Three iconic landmarks will be featured - The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, ArtScience Museum and the Merlion.
Overall, the Share the Moment Campaign is a joint initiative with National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) that aims to celebrate and recognise stories of community heroes who uplifted others in 2020.
Event Details: The Fullerton Hotel and Merlion: 25 - 31 December 2020, 8.00pm - 10.30pm daily (extended to 11.45pm on 31 December)
ArtScience Museum: 26 - 31 December 2020, 8.00pm - 10.30pm daily (extended to 11.45pm on 31 December)
A 5-minute animated light projection show will play every 15 minutes, with the last show at 10.30pm (last show at 11.45pm on 31 December).
Heartland Fireworks
To minimise crowds from gathering in the vicinity, no fireworks will be displayed at Marina Bay on 31 December this year. Instead, there will be fireworks put up in the heartlands so do not be disappointed!

- Nanyang Ward in West Coast GRC
No specific viewing spots have been allotted as residents are encouraged to view the fireworks' livestreams in the comfort of their homes.
Let's Celebrate 2021 Livestream
Every year there will be a New Year countdown party organised by Mediacorp and though this year it will not be physical, it is still going to be exciting. Famous artists who will be featured include Rriley, ShiGGa Shay, Shye, Tabitha Nauser, Jason Derulo, Benee, Jeremy Zucker and Tones & I.
Stay home to catch a livestream of the countdown event on MeWatch, Mediacorp, Channel 5 and Mediacorp Entertainment's YouTube channel. The live performances will start from 10.30pm onwards on 31 December 2020.
Loof: 2021 Lai Liao
Lounge and relax at Loof, a rooftop bar, which has organised a countdown event: 2021 Lai Liao. If you catch the early bird promotion, you will get to enjoy free flow of spirits, wines and beers. Grab a few of your friends, vibe and countdown together to 2021 at the Loof!
Ce La Vi: White Hot NYE
Come in all white from head to toe, for Ce La Vi's event: White Hot NYE! Boasting an incredible skyline, this rooftop bar is a perfect place to revel in the night scene and bring in the new year. The event starts from 4pm and lasts till 1am. If you want to catch the last sunset of 2020, come in early! Do note that you have to finish any alcoholic drinks by 10:30PM though, as only non-alcoholic beverages will be allowed past that timing.
Though this year, the countdown events are comparatively less, you can still bring in the new year with fun and excitement through the above activities!
