Khmer Surin
Khmer Surin is one of Phnom Penh’s oldest restaurants, having served up authentic Cambodian nosh to the public for more than two decades. They have a range of exciting dishes on offer, but their Freshwater Fish Amok is to die for. Made with a range of locally-sourced spices including turmeric root and lemongrass, this delicacy comes wrapped in banana leaves and is best enjoyed with steamed rice.

Open till 11pm in the evening, this is the perfect place to indulge a late-night sugar craving. Founded as a social enterprise to offer training and employment to street children, this establishment is popular with locals and expats alike. Sink your teeth into one of their Banana, Chocolate, and Basil Spring Rolls – yes, it sounds weird, but it works. There is also Black Sticky Rice Pudding with Coconut Ice Cream for a more tropical vibe. The restaurant also serves a variety of fresh juices and alcohol, and has a fun, tapas-style sharing menu - perfect for the indecisive diner.

Italian cuisine? In Phnom Penh? It’s more likely than you think. This beloved Italian bistro and winery serves up authentic woodfired pizzas, steaks, and pasta dishes that are as close to Rome as it gets.
