As October creeps up on us, we know that Halloween is just a few sleeps away. However this year, due to the pandemic, things may be different. However do not fret as Halloween is not totally cancelled. While some events like the annual Halloween Horror Nights have been cancelled, it doesn’t mean that we can’t get a little spooked up this month! While some may get under the covers and watch some horror movies, why not spice it up by visiting some of Singapore’s haunted sites. Warning: this is not for the faint hearted.
The Matilda House

Located in Punggol, Matilda House is one of the oldest houses in Singapore. It was built in 1902 and sold for redevelopment in 2012. Before it became a clubhouse, this mansion was a 6-bedroom residence.
Legend has that evil spirits have occupied this house and anyone who dares to step into the house will be brutally murdered. This tale has been told as when the house was set to be demolished, 3 workers mysteriously died of unnatural causes. As such, the demolition process was abandoned.
Old Changi Hospital

One of the most well known haunted places in Singapore is the Old Changi Hospital. This hospital was once built in 1935 by the British government and was used as a prison camp in 1942 by the Japanese.
Since being abandoned in 1997, this hospital has gained a reputation for unusual happenings. It is known that people who visit this site report hearing screaming and seeing “strange people”.
Amber Tower

The Amber Beacon Tower is known as a haunted site because of its past. In 1990, a couple had gone up the tower for a date which ended disastrously. The young couple had been stabbed by two assailants who have not been arrested to this day. The woman passed 2 days after the incident while the man fortunately survived. This incident has remained unsolved till this day.
It has been known by passersby that they can hear screaming from the tower in the middle of the night. Some have also seen a figure floating on its deck.
