March 6th is National Frozen Food Day and everyday I am thankful for its existence. Frozen food has made it incredibly convenient and accessible for people of all ages. The first frozen food invented was actually fish and peas before it evolved to our microwaveable 1-minute pastas. So, in commemoration of that day, I have decided to try five different frozen pizza brands (of the same flavour of course) and rank them on which is the best!
Please note that I tried their Cheese Pizzas to avoid biases.
Macy
Looks may be deceiving — Macy’s struck out to me as something cheap and underwhelming due to its packaging and appearance. However, I kept my mind and options open and Macy’s only costs $5 so I thought “why not”? Turns out, Macy’s is the best out of the other five that I’ve tried. The winning factor has got to be their soft, fluffy and light dough accompanied with a tangy tomato base.

Fairprice
For just $6.20, Fairprice’s Cheese Pizza is definitely worth your money. The cheese is generous and the sauce is light — perfect for those who can’t stand the sourness of the tomato sauce. I wasn’t a fan of the dough especially after I tasted Macy’s but it was definitely better than Sunshine’s. So, if you’re a fan of cheese-loaded pizzas, Fairprice got you covered.

Dr Oetker
One of the more accessible and popular frozen pizza brands out there. I’ve tried Dr Oetker a few times and they definitely do not disappoint. With the wide range it has to offer, Dr Oektker prides themselves in creating authentic Italian pizzas. The pizza I had was light on their toppings but in terms of flavour, everything sits well with me. I got the saltiness of the cheese and the sweetness from the cherry tomatoes so everything complimented one another perfectly.

Buitoni
What mesmerised me about Buitoni was their packaging and for $9.95, I found the reputable brand rather competitive compared to Dr Oketer which costs only 15 cents more. Buitoni offers a wide range of thin crusts pizzas so that’s great for fans out there. Maybe it was the thin crust but I felt that Buitoni’s cheese pizza lacked flavour. The only thing I could salvage out of this is their pizza dough, it felt light.

Sunshine
For a company that is well known for their bread, I was incredibly disappointed with Sunshine’s cheese pizza. The original price of the pizza was $7.60 but Hao Mart was offering a promotion of $5.90 and even that wasn’t enough to compensate for its taste. I had no issues with the toppings and base, I relatively found them okay. The problem laid with the crust — it felt like you were biting into a hard stale biscuit. Initially, I thought we baked it wrong but we followed the instructions precisely so I truly do think it was a matter of manufacturing.
