Being a clean city with hills to trek, Penang has no shortage of attractions for adults. But, there are activities that are family-friendly too. From nature to culture-based attractions, here are the six most fun things to do with kids in Penang.
Entopia
Children will be delighted to get up close to butterflies. With over 15,000 butterflies flying freely around the enclosure, you will also get the chance to learn more about their lifecycles in the exhibition zone. The Home Tree makes a pretty good backdrop for family photographs too.
Escape Adventure Theme Park
Swing from the trees and attempt obstacles courses up to fifty feet above ground at this park. It will challenge your kids to be courageous and overcome their fear of heights.
Parents who are unable to watch their kids take flight would prefer the waterpark instead. With slides that parents can take with their children, such as the Family Twister Slide and a lazy pool, it promises to be safe, endless fun.

Rickshaw Ride through Georgetown
The street art of Georgetown cannot be missed. And the pictures won’t turn out nicely if you go hunting for the pictures when the sun is setting. So, take a ride with a rickshaw (preferably with an umbrella) to get to picturesque spots in the daytime. Your kids will enjoy the novel experience of being a passenger on a bicycle carriage.
Wonderfood Museum
This quirky and fun museum will have “wow” your kids as well as teach them in the “info” section. Take photographs with life-sized, local food models, and learn about how some foods like, shark fin soup, is bad on the environment.
Penang Botanic Gardens
Also known as the Waterfalls Gardens, the Penang Botanic Gardens was set up by the British in 1884, housing local and exotic plants. The floral and fauna with Penang Hill in the backdrop is a refreshing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are interested, there is also an hour trekking path which leads to Penang Hill. Along the way, you will pass through the Monkey Gardens where you can see the flurry animals. P.S. Please warn your kids about the dangers of touching wild monkeys before embarking on the trail.
Snake Temple
While it is claimed that no one has been by a snake in this temple, I would urge you to not bring children that are very small here. As legend has it, a monk who cured people of incurable diseases lived in this spot and welcomed snakes. But fret not, there is burning incense to subdue them during the day as a safety procedure.
With so many attractions to explore in Penang, both adults and kids will have a fun-filled time creating memories that will last.
