Hong Kong Museum of History
Established in 1975, the Hong Kong Museum of History is open all year for you to explore the entire history of the city covering the span of 400 million years from prehistoric Hong Kong to the interesting local folk culture. The main museum is located at Chatham Road South but there is also five other branch museums namely the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence at Shau Kei Wan, the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum at Sham Shui Po, Law Uk Folk Museum at Chai Wan, Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery in the Quarry Bay Park and Sun Yat-sen Museum in the Mid-levels of Central. With the variety of options, you can explore to your heart’s content!

Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware
Located in Hong Kong Park, the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware was built in the 1840s and is home to exhibitions, tea gatherings and even lectures where you can learn more about tea drinking culture. The building was formerly the office and residence of the Commander of the British Forces in Hong Kong, and was only converted to the Museum of Tea Ware in 1984.

Hong Kong Heritage Museum
Boasting 5 permanent galleries and 6 thematic galleries which hosts exhibitions regularly, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum where you can learn more about history, art and culture of the city in one place. Here, you can find a reconstructed bamboo theatre where you can watch old operas (with English subtitles, of course) and many fine and decorative Chinese art.

Hong Kong Space Museum
The city’s first planetarium, the Hong Kong Space Museum houses many interactive displays which you can experience! You can find a number of exhibitions here including a special space exhibit on the Mars rover where you can learn more about the Martian environment and more or the Gravity Surfing exhibit where you can explore virtual galaxies on a surfboard!

Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Art
A one-stop cultural destination for you to learn more about the arts and history of the city, Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Art brings together various genres of art, heritage, culture and lifestyle of Hong Kong for your perusal. Built on a mission to conserve and revitalise the former Central Police Station compound, this space is also a venue for public programmes all can enjoy and learn from. Every year, the centre hosts 6 to 8 different exhibitions and this is also one of the best places to learn about the city’s colonial history.
