Painting with Light: Festival of International Films on Art returns for its fourth run at the National Gallery. The annual film festival showcases films on artistic practices, art, and moments in art history as well as post-screening dialogues. This year’s festival will be presented in a hybrid format, with online screenings on the Gallery’s microsite as well as on-site screenings across the National Gallery. 

Don’t miss ABSTRACTIONS: Filmic Readings of the Something New Must Turn Up Exhibition, a film anthology in response to the National Gallery’s latest exhibition. Featuring local filmmakers such as Toh Hun Ping, Ryan Benjamin Lee, and more, Painting with Light is a celebration of the local film scene and its evolution and can’t-miss event.

Rainforest Lumina

Since its inception in 2018, Rainforest Lumina has become an annual event hosted by the Singapore Zoo. This year marks its third and final edition as the park comes to life when the sun goes down. Explore Singapore Zoo like you’ve never seen it before in a mesmerising audio-visual experience that takes you across the park and into the lush, luminous world of the rainforest after dark. 

While you won’t get to meet any animals, you’ll find virtual animal companions on your journey that will guide you through the park. With new and enhanced multi-sensory zones that’ll be a sure hit with the kids, it’s a great way to spend an evening with the family.

Hyperrealities

If our world were to come to a screeching halt tomorrow, what would we be left with? only losers left alive is an exploratory multi-sensory exhibition that delves into the things that remain in the face of disaster. Through film, sound, and performance art, top Singaporean filmmakers and artists deconstruct an apocalyptic future in this immersive two-part exhibition. 

The first part of the exhibition runs through 4 August, featuring a sold-out performance by artist XUE and musician Rudi Osman that bridge together the exhibition’s two unique parts.
