Note: Due to Covid-19, a-la-carte buffets may not be available anymore. Please check the respective places before visiting.
Ah, today we delve into one of the favourite pastimes of Singaporeans: food. While buffets as we know them may no longer be relevant at a time like this, it doesn’t mean we should give them a miss altogether. There’s some benefits to an à la carte buffet. For one, the food is a lot fresher as it’s served to order. Here are the best buffets to go for in Phase 2, from cheap to expensive:
Seoul Kitchen ($)
Hidden in Sembawang, Seoul Kitchen specialises in Korean Fried Chicken (endearingly known as KFC). They do a KFC buffet that can rival Chicken Up’s at just half the price! It’s $14.90+ per pax, a steal considering a basket of KFC from the à la carte menu starts from $20. It’s not just any fried chicken, though. You’ll find it crispy and well-seasoned, none of that overly greasy nonsense here. For those of you who want a little variety, the buffet includes some BBQ meats as well. The location may be a little out of the way for most, but for chicken this good? Worth it.
Price: $14.90+ per pax
Address: 435 Sembawang Road, Singapore 758398
Opening hours: Monday–Sunday, 11.30am–11pm (Buffet is available until 4pm)

Peach Garden ($$)
For all you dim sum lovers out there, this one’s for you. Priced at an affordable $23.80++ per pax, Peach Garden dishes out a range of dishes ranging from Peking duck, steamed prawns, traditional dim sum and more every weekend. You’ll be served at your table, pushcart style, so all you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the food. If you’ve got a group of 4 (perfect for adhering to the group of 5 rule), all the better — for every 3 paying adults, the fourth dines free.
Price: $23.80++ per pax

Guo Fu Steamboat ($$)

Located in Chinatown, Guo Fu Steamboat offers a premium hotpot buffet starting from prices of only $25.90++ per pax! While it may be a little more pricey than the regular hotpot buffet joints like Shabu Sai, forget Shabu Sai, this is where it’s at. Not only are the soups incredibly flavourful, the meats are of good quality. They pride themselves on their fatty beef, which is equal parts meat and fat. Full on flavour, it’s worth a trip just for the beef alone. Besides the whole gamut of hotpot items, there’s also free flow xiao long bao. Need I say more?
Price: From $25.90++ per pax
Address: China Square Central, 20 Cross Street, #01-31, Singapore 048422

Seoul Restaurant ($$$)
I truly believe this to be a hidden gem. Nestled within the confines of Regent Singapore, Seoul Restaurant services patrons looking for authentic charcoal Korean barbecue. The prices here may be on the higher side compared to the usual offerings out there, but don’t let that deter you. The meat here is of excellent quality, and you’ll definitely be able to tell. Before COVID-19 hit, it was already operating on an à la carte buffet basis, meaning that the service isn’t in any way diminished. The best part? Unlike some other buffets, this has no time limits, meaning you’re free to eat at a leisurely pace instead of wolfing your food down. Bring on the beef!
Price: From $49++ per pax
Address: Regent Singapore, 1 Cuscaden Road, Level 3, Singapore 249715
Opening hours: Monday–Friday, 12pm–2.30pm, Saturday–Sunday, 12pm–3pm, Monday–Sunday, 5.30pm–10.30pm

The perfect place to spend your afternoon with your friends, 10 Scotts offers an afternoon tea buffet, served à la minute. Located in Grand Hyatt, you’ll be able to fill yourself up with the likes of freshly shucked oysters, prawn cocktails and lamb wellington, while sipping on a cup of Monogram tea. At $52++ per pax, it certainly isn’t the cheapest on this list, but hey, if you’re big on seafood, it’s a real steal considering how fresh they are. Besides, you deserve a treat every now and then.

Gorge yourself on the likes of pasta from different regions, brought right to your table — watch as it’s served from a giant cheese wheel! With a combination of the freshest ingredients and grand service, this is one buffet you won’t forget for a long time. If the price is a barrier, don’t falter yet! If you book through their website, adding in the code ‘BAS73’ in the additional notes field snags you an additional $10 off per pax (valid on Saturdays only).
