The food is undeniably good in JB (Johor Bahru) and comes at an affordable price tag too. It is no wonder that Singaporeans are addicted to hunting down the best deals in the city on their weekends. But, we will spare you the effort and recommend the best and cheapest food restaurants you can find in JB.
Johor Bahru Kam Long Curry Fish Head
Spice and curry lovers can’t get enough of this curry fish head which is usually sold out by mid-afternoon. They are even willing to queue under the hot midday sun up to an hour for a taste of this decadent dish.
At just $6.54 SGD (20 RM) for a fish head which can feed up to two people, it is a great restaurant (restoran) deal.

7 Spice
Another place where you can get spicy food is 7 Spice. Besides their fish head curry, they also sell one of the best nasi briyanis, lamb curry, and spicy garlic cheese prawns. Sweet desserts such as pudding are also available so you will be completely spoiled for choice when you enter this restaurant at Danga Bay.
Choose from sets that cater to a maximum of six people, starting from $42.53 SGD (130 RM) for two, to $121.04 SGD (370RM).

Grill Bar Steakhouse
Craving for a good old fashioned steak? Grill Bar Steakhouse may look small and not particularly interesting on the outside along Taman Pelangi road, but upon entering the restaurant, you will be stunned by its cool, biker, and western decor. The portions are generous and the food is cooked to perfection!
Enjoy Lobster Bisque for only $5.23 SGD (RM16) and juicy ribeye steak at $3.92 (12 RM) per ounce.

D’Laksa
Ask anyone and they will tell you that Laksa is a national dish but arguably the best one is D’Laksa, found in KSL City mall. It hits all the best spots on your tongue with its perfect combination of sweet, sour, and spice. The noodles are cooked till they are chewy and are just the right texture to complement the onions and fishcakes toppings.
Address: KSL City Mall, LG-63&64, 33, Jalan Seladang, Taman Abad, 80250 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Ah Hua Kueh Teow (Restoran See Kee)
Previously catering to solely bus drivers, truck delivery drivers, this restaurant has come to be popular amongst both the old and the young. Noodles are handmade and the soups have little to no artificial flavoring, making it refreshingly delicious and easy to eat.
A small bowl goes for just (RM8).
Address: 30, Jalan Segget, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Malaysia
New Lucky Seafood Restaurant
For a true seafood feast, you can head to this restaurant near KSL. They don’t have a signboard that lists prices so you will have to ask the waiter for the fare. Their Kway Teow (fried noodles) are raved about widely so make sure you try them. I have it on good faith that their portions are big but at a reasonable cost.
Address: 1-5, Jalan Keris, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80050 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
