While cheese is not generally used as a key ingredient in Singaporean cuisine, it is definitely a welcomed food. For me, cheese goes well with everything: rice, prata, tofu — you name it, I’ll slap a slice of cheese on it.

Many Singaporeans have also come to appreciate cheese, and not just Kraft Singles. This beloved dairy product comes in various shapes, textures, and smells, pairing well with almost everything and anything — but especially a nice glass of wine.

Luckily for us, Singapore is home to various gourmet food purveyors and cheesemongers, allowing us cheese-lovers to have access to quality cheese from around the world. Whether you’re on the hunt for a block of Brie, Comte, or Gorgonzola, you will be spoilt for choice at these fine cheese shops.

Cheese-lovers should be familiar with this store, located along Stirling Road. They offer a wide variety of cheeses imported from small traditional farms in Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, and other countries.

As factories have been taking over the jobs of traditional cheesemakers, many cheese farms have been forced to close, resulting in the disappearance of legendary, well-crafted cheeses. The Cheese Ark gathers rare cheeses produced by these traditional cheesemakers, sparking a bit of hope amongst this dying trade.

Customers will also find a variety of alcohol here, including wine, whisky, and craft beers that can complement their cheese purchases.
