Thanks to ‘Oppa Gangnam Style!’ much of the world has now been made aware of the happening party district of Gangnam in Seoul—but did you know that Busan doesn’t fall far behind in the party persuasion either? Whether you're just looking for a spot to chill with friends or you're a reveller looking for a massive party, these spots are the places to be at and to be seen at.
REVEL
For the young, the mature and everything in between, REVEL is a club that has something for everyone. Considered one of the hottest places to hang out in Busan, REVEL is dedicated to great hip-hop music and devoted to showing off both local and foreign talent on the DJ stand. It has a holding capacity for about 1,000 partygoers, and an incredibly affordable cover charge of US$9. Located in a district home to not 1 but 2 universities (Kyungsung and Pukyong National University) rest assured that there will be no shortage of young beautiful people within the club.
Club Kudeta
Looking for a beach club with some luxury thrown in? Club Kudeta (formerly known as Club Tao) is for you. It’s located right on beautiful Haeundae Beach, and features a wide variety of music from hip-hop to house, funk to techno, soul to R&B. The interior is luxurious and posh, but cover charge comes at an affordable US$9 for ladies and US$18 for men.
Billie Jean
Secret underground party zones are always more exciting, and this club is literally underground - Billie Jean Bar and Lounge is located in a basement on Dalmaji street. It boasts an intimate, slightly alternative vibe, with funky jazz music and occasionally hip-hop. As the name might suggest Billie Jean is more Western-influenced, and also offers bar games, darts, and apparently a killer Long Island Iced Tea.
Gwangalli Beach
Yes, the beach offers both daytime and nighttime entertainment. Gwangalli Beach is a beautiful spot to sunbathe and enjoy sand and sea in the day, and at night a happening district for moon-watching and partying. Numerous hip nightclubs sit side-by-side on this prime land, and you can hop from one to another depending on your mood. Feel like gazing out pensively into the great expanse of ocean with a cocktail in your hand? Head to Beach Bikini for amazing panoramic views of the Gwangan Beach and the sea. Looking to bop in a big crowd with loud music? Thursday Party is popular with young locals and is known for music that makes you dance, as well as good beer.
Output Busan
Foreigner-friendly and known for its special feature on underground DJs, Output Busan is perfect for the discerning music-lover. Deep bass, strong beats and electronic sounds reign at Output, which is situated in the heart of downtown Seomyeon. The crowd here is young, hip and alternative, and the party keeps going until 5am.
