When we think about burgers, it’s natural for our minds to immediately ponder about McDonald’s, Five Guys, MOS Burgers, or any of the other global chains that have created a large footprint on our tiny red dot.

While I would never say no to a McSpicy every so often, Singapore is home to various burger joints offering unique, juicy, and satisfying burgers that should be on your radar.

Whether you’re a burger aficionado or just happen to be craving a top-notch burger, here are some of the best gourmet burgers around Singapore. From quality ingredients such as wagyu beef to truffle mushroom to plant-based patties with char-grilled satay, your palate won’t be disappointed.

25 Degrees Burger, Wine and Liquor Bar

A burger joint by day and a liquor bar by night, 25 Degrees brings to Singapore simple yet tasty burgers. Originally from Los Angeles, 25 Degrees has taken the world by storm, expanding to various countries including Macau, Bangkok, and Singapore, offering funky American burgers.

Its menu is simple, with burgers named numerically for easier recognition. The Number One burger contains 200g of its signature USA Angus beef patty, topped with caramelised onions, crescenza, gorgonzola, bacon, and arugula. The burger patty is juicy and flavourful, with a hint of smokiness — one bite into this burger and your mouth will be filled with multiple textures and flavours.

25 Degrees has also recently added two new burgers to its menu — buttermilk fried chicken burger and satay burger. The buttermilk fried chicken burger is made with chicken thigh as a patty and topped with a “Spicky” miso sauce. This burger is juicy and tender, with the Spicky miso giving the burger a unique kick, and is easily one of the best buttermilk fried chicken burgers I have had in a long time.

If you love meat and burgers, you will love your visit to MeatSmith. This American barbecue smokehouse offers various meats and platters, on top of its gourmet burgers. These platters consist of a variety of barbecued meats, served with a side of pickles and corn bread.

While any burger here will satisfy your stomach, its MS cheeseburger is the must-try. This creation is filled with a generous beef patty and topped with American cheddar cheese, pickles, and its in-house burger sauce. The burger also has hints of sweet and sour flavors from the pickles, cutting the richness of the patty and potato bun.

Wildfire Burgers

Uniquely known for its Japanese Binchotan charcoal-grilled patties, Wildfire Burgers offer various flavorful and quirky burgers. Wildfire Burgers prides itself on the quality of its burgers. It also hopes to cater to diners who work from home, thus introducing burgers that can be held with just one hand.

Its burgers consist of wagyu and Angus beef patties between two soft and pillowy brioche buns. The truffle mushroom burger is a favourite among many, consisting of a USDA certified Black Angus beef patty, sauteed mushrooms, truffle mayo, caramelised onion, and master sauce between two buns. This patty is thick and filled with rich beef flavors, giving the burger a good bite. The burger features a nice balance of flavors, with neither the patty nor the truffle being too overpowering.

An uni ebi burger is also available here once a year, and highly raved about by many. This burger consists of a crispy panko prawn patty topped with squid ink aioli, and two generous rows of creamy bafun uni.The creaminess of the uni, the savoriness of the aioli, coupled with the freshness of the patty and its buttery buns makes this burger worth the calories. It’s filled with various complementing flavours and textures, and will undoubtedly keep you lingering for more after each bite.

Three Buns

From the Potato Head family comes Three Buns, an award-winning restaurant concept with the aim of redefining gourmet burgers. This quirky burger joint offers a variety of unique burgers such as Baby Huey, Burning Man, and Four Floors. It also showcases popular meat-free options made with Impossible and Tindle patties.

One of my favourites is the Baby Huey. It’s a simple burger consisting of a Tasmanian vintage beef patty, cheddar cheese, and spiced mayo on a toasted demi-brioche bun. Guests will taste a hint of smokiness from the patty, with its richness balanced off with the cheddar cheese and spiced mayo. A true delight during every visit.

This humble burger joint prides itself for offering burgers made using fresh, quality ingredients with no-frills cooking techniques. Burger-lovers don’t have to look far for its establishments because they have various outlets located all around the island.

Wolf Burgers has an extensive menu, offering beef, chicken, and meat-free burgers. Try its signature Wolf burger, made with freshly ground beef patty, cheddar, sauteed onions, and WOLF sauce between two house-made sesame seed buns.

The burger is cooked to a beautiful medium-rare state: crisp on the outside while still tender and juicy on the inside. You may think this burger sounds simple, but it is aromatic, flavourful, and well balanced — definitely a burger that will satisfy your cravings.

VeganBurg

For all you meat-free burger-lovers out there, this is for you. VeganBurg has a wide variety of vegan burgers made from plant-based patties, which aims to break the stereotype of how burgers should look, feel, and taste like.

Here, you can find burgers such as Chili Krab, Cracked Mayo, Char-Grilled Satay, and Tangy Tartar. It also offers vegan-based add-ons such as bacon as well as cheese and eggs, which almost tastes like the real deal and can fool even the most discerning palate.

Its Chili Krab burger is an all-time favourite, created for Singapore’s 54th National Day and has remained a mainstay. This burger is made with konjac, and has the consistency of actual crab meat. Even though it’s topped with chili crab sauce, the burger is not too spicy or sweet, complementing the “crab” patty well.
