The ondeh-ondeh cake has been many’s go-to cake flavour for any occasion. It’s an incredibly safe option and it is enjoyed by plenty. It sometimes beat the all-time chocolate flavoured cakes! Ondeh-ondeh cakes are beyond a simple pandan cake. It’s the perfect combination of the creaminess from the coconut flakes and sweetness of the gula melaka. So, here’s our roundup on the best ondeh-ondeh cake in Singapore!

I remembered visiting their first outlet in Sembawang before this successful brand expanded. What lured me in was not just the shop’s classical yet simplistic interior but the sweet buttery aroma excreted from the fresh baked goods. I remembered looking at the display, marveled by their intricate and marble-like designs that were simply just Instagram-worthy. For a 6-inch ondeh-ondeh cake, it’s priced at $58. The best part of their cake is how light and fluffy the texture and taste is. The cake isn’t overwhelmingly sweet which made it easy for people to digest so you would definitely go for seconds!

Fluff Bakery

Their one and only humble outlet located in Jalan Pisang will always have snaking queues. Customers are always hopeful on getting any of their available baked goods whether it’s their popular ondeh-ondeh cupcakes or classic red velvet, everyone just hopes that by the time it’s their turn, there is something available for them. Their ondeh-ondeh cupcakes are priced at $4 each and their whole cakes starts from $45. Their best feature has got to be their coconut-flavoured cream that is generously topped on both their cakes and cupcakes. It’s incredibly light and it packs a punch. Truly for those who would go coconuts for coconuts.

The Malayan Council

No one leaves The Malayan Council without at least tasting their ondeh-ondeh cake. Their slices are generous in size. On top of that, they add a thin layer of crushed gula melaka on a bed of cream to give the cake a crunchy texture. It’s definitely a treat when you get to bite into the crystalised sugar. What makes this cake incredibly mouth-watering is the cake’s texture — it’s moist but not dense, so it definitely gives you a more wholesome bite. And when you opt for dine-in, they served their sliced ondeh-ondeh cake with a scoop of ice cream! The perfect dessert after a hearty meal!

Julie Bakes

Julie Bakes is one of the most down-to-earth bakeries you’d ever come across but this eccentric feature of theirs is the closest thing to providing “homemade goods” vibes. Julie Bakes serves customers with scrumptious moist cakes that are towering in height. Every bite is just spoonfuls of comfort and flavourful. Their ondeh-ondeh cake, to say the least, tastes nearly authentic to the actual and original ondeh-ondeh. This feature has appealed to many, especially those who are a fan of the traditional ondeh-ondeh dessert. Julie Bakes have definitely managed to replicate this perfectly.

The ROYALS Cafe

The ROYALS Cafe take their ondeh-ondeh cake a bit more differently by switching it up to a swiss roll form. Each roll is priced from $16.50 each and can roughly provide for a minimum of 8 pax. The roll is incredibly soft, almost pillowlike which is a very nice texture to have. So after every bite, the cake simply melts in your mouth, leaving a very buttery and sweet sensation on your lips. Swiss cakes are definitely more convenient in my opinion but the bakery offers whole and sliced cakes of the same flavor as well! It all depends on your preference!

Bob the Baker Boy is noted for their healthier cakes as their motto goes; twice the sugar, double the flavour! Spoiler alert, they lived up to it. Bob the Baker Boy does not skimp out on their flavours, especially their bestseller ondeh-ondeh bento cakes. Bento cakes have been trendy lately and it seems like it’s here to stay! The ondeh-ondeh bento cakes that the bakery provides does not come in the most adorable sizes and designs, it is just packed with flavours!
