Seemingly a small island of Philippines, Boracay is known as a beach paradise and it has been so popular with tourists that it had to be closed down for 6 months in 2018 for a cleanup. Now that it has reopened, you may be at a loss for what to do. So look no further, here are the things everyone should do in Boracay!
White Beach
It is not hard to see why this is a haven with white sand beaches and blue seas. The most popular of which is the White Beach. Stretching for four kilometres with three zones, this beach has accommodation and shops which cater to every type of traveler, from those on a budget to those who are looking for the ultimate pampering.
Ariel’s Point
Speaking of beaches, there are so many fun water activities that one can do, and Boracay has its fair share of unique ones, such as cliff jumping. Challenge your guts by jumping off five diving boards that have different heights, the highest being 15 meters! You can also do other fun things like snorkelling at this joint.
Willy’s Rock
Another attraction along the beaches is the iconic Willy’s Rock. A tidal island of the coast of White Beach, it features a Virgin Mary shrine is especially popular amongst Catholics. There are steps for you to climb up to the top but it can get quite slippery so do practice caution.
Mt Luho
Like every other tourist destination in the world, there is a spot high up for you to take in a bird’s eye view of the place. Mt Luho, at 100 meters above sea level, is the hike to take when in Boracay. The hike is said to be mildly challenging but entirely rewarding with views of not just the island but also Crystal Cove, Carabao, and Panay.
Thrill-seekers will also get a kick out of the zip-line overlooking Bulabog Beach.
Henna
While this is certainly something you can in Singapore too, the Henna artist in Boracay do beautiful jobs and even have services to do with white ink.
Insider Tips: Be sure not to put on any skin products before applying Henna and not touching water for three hours after.
Massages
As with any beach vacation, one must have that soothing massage to get rid of all the aches and pains that you carry in daily life. Have massages directly on the beach or head to spas for the full works.
Do try out their signature Filipino hilot massage, which uses banana leaves and coconut oil along with pressure massage techniques to relieve muscle tensions.
Beach Clubs
Last but not least, party till you drop at the various beach clubs and bars. Just right by the beach, you will be swaying to the sound of the waves or showing off moves on indoor dance floors.
Some of these establishments open all day, operating as restaurants and cafes with some of the best foods around so it is definitely worth checking out even if you don’t club.
An island paradise which has reopened to fewer crowds, be sure to head there to get some peace and serenity before it heats up as a premium beach destination once again!
