Hong Kong is an eclectic city with so much to offer from enchanting labyrinth streets to incredible viewpoints but some little known places are still yet to be explored. Take a chance and ride a ferry to a nearby island or visit some charming buildings in the city for a change! Here are some spots you could slide into your itinerary on your next visit.

Peng Chau Island

Just a ferry ride away from the Central Pier is Peng Chau Island a serene little place away from the hustle and bustle of the city where you can soak in the sun or climb up the walking trail which will reward you with some of the most impressive views! Give the popular Lantau or Lamma Island a miss and take a chance on Peng Chau Island instead. Take in the beauty of pristine beaches, amazing seafood restaurants and the treks you can take here! One of the most popular trails is the Finger Hill which boasts spectacular views of Hong Kong and the neighboring islands. 

Nan Lian Garden

Reminiscent of Japan, Nan Lian Garden is 2-minutes walk away from Diamond Hill, a beautiful temple located within the city. Serene and divine, the contrast of an enchanting temple amidst the tall skyscrapers of Hong Kong will definitely put you in a relaxed state. Offering peace and quiet the garden is a great place to enjoy greenery and is best visited before dark!

Kowloon Walled City Park

In the past, Kowloon Walled City Park used to be rife with drug peddling and prostitution but today has been revamped to highlight the incredible heritage of the area. Filled with beautiful gardens, this spot is perfect for a walk in the day to enjoy the sceneries that Hong Kong offers. Peek into the daily lives of the local and savour the local specialties where you can truly immerse in the raw and honest side of Hong Kong life!

Sham Shui Po

 A true hidden gem, Sham Shui Po is a Kowloon locality where you can explore the streets and get educated about the local life. Each street also specialises in different goods from electronics to crafts, everything you want to find can be found here! Here, you can also go on a Michelin foodie hunt where you can try the famous Tim Ho Wan dim sum, Kung Wo Tofu and more! Best visited in the afternoons and early evening, see daily life here in full swing!

Yick Fat

Yick Fat is a large residential complex that is colourful and perfect to spice up your Instagram timeline. Made out of three towers filled with apartments and shops, it was once the most densely populated structure in the world! This area was also featured in the Transformers 4 film. 

Choi Hung Estate

A picturesque neighborhood, Choi Hung Estate is known for the symmetrical and bright blocks. It is also one of the oldest housing estates in Hong Kong, holding history within itself. At one point, it was home to over 43,000 residents! Today, it is a popular Instagrammable spot, beautiful and charming in its own way. This spot was also visited by famous people like Princess Margaret and President Richard Nixon.
