Gone are the days where we had to endure an arduous journey to the East just to get a taste of the famous ShackBurger. When Shake Shack first opened in Jewel Changi Airport, it caused quite the stir. Since then, we’ve been spoiled with not one, two, but five outlets so far! The brand’s rapid expansion is a testament to its popularity, and a sixth outlet at Great World City is currently underway!
Every Shake Shack outlet is unique, and the upcoming one at Great World City is no exception. Walk past the outlet and you’re bound to notice an eye-catching mural unlike any other. This is a collaboration between Shake Shack and Singaporean artist tobyato. A budding graphic designer and artist, tobyato has worked with many other young and upcoming brands, such as Netflix, Uniqlo, G-SHOCK, Adidas, Levi’s, and Asics, among others, and imbues a playful spirit in his pieces.
The sprawling abstract artwork pays homage to the history of the mall, of which its namesake comes from one of Singapore’s first amusement parks, Great World, built in the 1920’s. The colours reflect the amusement park’s playful atmosphere — one that has appealed to people of all ages. In the same way, this mirrors Shake Shack’s inclusive appeal, with its diverse offering of food, beverages, and welcoming environment. The sprawling shapes and lines are reflective of tobyato’s personal style, and add a fun and personal touch.

A modern day “roadside” burger stand, Shake Shack prides itself on its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and flat-top Vienna beef dogs, spun fresh frozen custard, crinkle cut fries, craft beer, wine, and more. With its fresh, simple, high-quality food at a great value, it’s not hard to see why Shake Shack has such a big following.
While there isn’t an exact date on its opening, it would definitely be sometime during the second quarter of 2021. In the meantime, you can drop by to check out this vivid mural — it’ll make a cute Instagram backdrop, that’s for sure! We’re also keeping our hopes up for outlets in the North and West, fingers crossed!
