Phi Phi Islands in the Andaman Sea is Krabi’s most popular island. Many tourists spend a few days here before heading back to Krabi Town. It is part of a marine national park and you can either get around the island via a longtail boat or simply walking.

It is located 43 kilometres west of Krabi Town and you can easily catch a speed boat over from Krabi Town. It is part of an archipelago of six other islands and apart from exploring the beaches, here are some other activities you can do when in Phi Phi Islands!

Maya Bay

Many know Maya Bay from the movie The Beach starring Leonardo DiCaprio, this beautiful baby is one big reef. The bay is sheltered by high cliffs on three sides and its beauty will mesmerise you.

The turquoise waters make it a perfect place to relax on the beach. Otherwise, for all nature enthusiasts, you can explore the Viking Cave where there are paintings on the sides of the wall representing Viking ships.

Phi Phi Viewpoint

This is the highest point of the island with an altitude of 186 metres. It is a non-demanding trek and the sight at the top is one you cannot miss. A 30-minute walk to the southern tip of Ao La Dalam would gift you with the opportunity to sit down, relax and soak in the view around you.

Snorkelling

Snorkelling is one of the most popular activities on the island as it’s warm and crystal waters allow you to fully explore the diverse marine life. You can snorkel on either Pileh Bay Lagoon, Bamboo Island or Mosquito Islands.

If you happen to snorkel along Loh Sam Bay be sure to look out for coral and reef fish. Most resorts in hotels include packages with snorkelling activities so be sure to check out those at your hotel or resort.

Another popular activity, Phi Phi islands has is one of the best locations for diving in Thailand. One of the more popular spots for diving is the King Cruiser Wreck. Advanced divers can explore this 85-metre long wreck for hours.

Shark point is where you can swim and spot leopard sharks. Don’t worry these sharks are completely harmless!

Bida Nok is the perfect place for beginners. As it is one of the less popular diving locations, you can explore the diverse marine life here without much crowd.

Cooking Class 

If you are bored and you have no idea how to spend your time, you can always join a cooking class! Pum’s Thai Cooking School is the most famous cooking school and they even offer quick cooking classes in 30 minutes. If you have the time to spare, you can also choose to join the 1.5-hour class or 3-hour class. A cooking lesson is also a perfect option for rainy days! 

Kayak

Kayaking around the island is another way to explore it’s hidden treasures. It is also the best form of exercise as you are exercising and exploring the island simultaneously at your own pace. You can rent kayaks and paddleboats at Tonsai Beach or Loh Dalam Bay.

The abundance of restaurants, cafés, tattoo parlours, or shops here will keep you occupied for hours. You can look for souvenirs, clothes or any other items here but it might be more expensive as Phi Phi Island is a small island. If not grab a bite or a coffee at one of the many restaurants or cafes.

Party

Koh Phi Phi Don or more popularly known as the island of fun, this is the best place to party! There are plenty of bars, restaurants and open-air discos for you to party the night away.

Slinky Bar is the place for a slightly wilder scene while Stockholm Syndrome has beer pong tables and a small dance floor. Apache Beach Bar has an open-air disco and also has fire dancers shows. Ibiza Pool Party is the party to be at if you prefer pool parties. The parties take place every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and the entrance is free between 1 pm and 9 pm.
