The Place
While this particular onsen is especially popular during the cherry blossom season, when the somei-yoshino trees within the premises are at their finest, this atmospheric onsen bathhouse has enough going for it to be worth a visit any time of the year. The spaces within the onsen are thoughtfully and beautifully decorated to make you feel at ease from the very start, and unlike most other onsens, the sodium chloride-rich waters have been filtered to remove the colour and smell. Step into Sakura’s crystal clear hot spring baths and have your aches melt away. Facilities such as a stone sauna (reservation required), as well as a wide variety of services including dining options, yoga classes, and massage spaces are also available.

16 Oct 2018The massage chairs are in the front in the lobby, which is a bad location. The nice thing about these chairs is that the setting is marked on the remote control. Just press the button and the chair starts. The spa area is clean and has good facilities overall. The sauna is unique in that it uses rocks doused in water. The dry heat is very nice in combination with bathing. Bring your own face and hand towels so that you can save money. The dining facilities are very good.

4 Dec 2019We had a very relaxing experience here. My husband and son enjoyed the men's onsen area while I relaxed in the women's. To get there use the entrance on the Somei street, not the one near the park, which is not the front entrance. On the Somei side, you walk down a pathway until you arrive at the main entrance. The attendant that helped us at the front desk explained the details well, including how to use the shoe and clothes lockers. To explain a little for you, like other onsens, you take off your shoes and put them in a locker. Then you get a wristband with key to use in the locker room. The wristband is used for paying for things and then you pay at the end. You can bring your own towel or pay for one. After you have put your belongings away, you will go to the washing area. The washing area has body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. The different temperature baths were enjoyable, some indoor and some outdoor. Overall a very nice experience here and we would return again. There is also a free shuttle that we used to return to the station.
